Dave Teague, Director, Ednetics Protect, of IT systems
integrator Ednetics, recently discussed his company’s experience working with
OpenEye and the OpenEye Web Services (OWS) platform.
“The nice thing about OpenEye is the solution scales from
one camera to many, so we have just as many customers that have a handful of
cameras to customers that have hundreds, thousands. What we were trying to do
is figure out ways to make that video system be more proactive, and that’s been
a unique offering from OpenEye,” Teague said.
Established in 1997, Ednetics is an IT systems integrator who
primarily serves K-12 schools.
“In schools, they want to be able to initiate a lockdown
from multiple different sources. We can lock the doors and send emergency
notifications and push notifications from OpenEye. We can do it from whatever
input they have in front of them at that moment.”
With an on-premises video surveillance system, one typically
must open ports on the firewall to gain remote access, which can create
cybersecurity issues.
“One of the things that the OWS platform had on day one was the ability for the on-premises appliance to securely connect to the cloud. So now the end users can gain access to video from anywhere they’re at, and they’re not jeopardizing the cybersecurity of their network by doing so,” Teague said. “... Not only are they making a product that helps us solve customer problems, but they truly care to hear the customer voice, the partner voice.”
