Whether notifying staff
that a delivery truck has arrived earlier than scheduled or a person walks
through an empty office after hours, alerts with push notifications can help a
business streamline operations and react more quickly to events.
OpenEye Web Services (OWS) alerts grant insight into events generated by a video surveillance system, from storage retention to motion events. Alerts data can be viewed via interactive reports online or configured to notify in real time via email or on a mobile device.
Alert types
- Health and Storage Retention—help identify when something is affecting the ability of hardware to capture or record video.
- Motion and Sensor—when movement is detected by a camera during a specified time period or when a sensor connected to a recorder is triggered.
- Analytics and Analytics Queue—for cameras preconfigured to send analytic events, an alert can be sent based on specifically defined audio or video events within a selected time period.
- Access Control and Door Access—when there is a trouble event identified with a door or when an attempt is made to access an area.
- Intrusion and Intrusion Sensor Alerts—identify when a sensor event is received from an intrusion system.
For cameras preconfigured to send analytic events, an alert can be sent based on specifically defined audio or video events within a selected time period.
Possible camera alert types
- Audio—audio detected, explosion, glass break, gunshot, scream, etc.
- Video—area entered, area exited, area motion, camera out of focus, camera tampering, change in area, face detected, fog/smoke, line cross, loitering, person detected, vehicle detected, no mask detected and thermal event detected.
- Queues—sent when a queue line has reached a medium or high threshold within a determined time range.
Case study
Florida’s Bay Credit Union wanted a way to easily view and manage its video surveillance system across its branches since it did not have a wall of monitors or just one dedicated staff member overseeing security. Learn how an alert helped the credit union quickly respond to an attempted theft. Read more.
How alerts work
OWS Alerts are tied to defined rules for system events. For example, each time a recorder loses connection or a sensor is triggered, it is registered as an event in the server software. These events are transmitted to the OWS cloud. There, the events are compared against the alert rules defined by the user, and an alert is generated the conditions are met.
