OpenEye camera models released in Q4 2020 and beyond have a new model number scheme designed to simplify the process of pairing cameras with compatible mounting accessories. The updated camera model number scheme gives you all the important information about the camera at a glance, accessory compatibility, indoor/outdoor, housing style, resolution, and camera-based analytics functionality.
The previous model number scheme communicated some of this information but didn't include the mounting accessory information making it difficult to identify which cameras were compatible with which mounts. With the new camera model number scheme the first two numbers after OE-C will indicate the series which is shared by both camera and compatible accessories. This means all 30-series accessories are compatible with 30-series cameras and all 20-series accessories are compatible with 20-series cameras.
There are also some universal camera accessories that work with multiple camera models, such as the pole mount kit and waterproof adapter, those will be identified as series 00.
Existing cameras will keep their current model numbers but as camera hardware is updated, new revisions of the cameras will be released with a new model number following this updated scheme.
